The Workshop

The event will be held in the Village Hotel Club, close to the City Centre, the Exhibition (SECC) train stations, the bars and restaurants of Finnieston and 5 miles from Glasgow airport. Fluorescence is an enabling phenomenon that spans many disciplines including physics, chemistry, life sciences and medicine. The programme is designed to be of interest to a wide range of delegates from an introduction to the basics of fluorescence to more advanced applications presented by world-leading experts, all bound together by the opportunity for hands-on time and small group training on a wide range of fluorescence instruments. Instruments available will cover steady-state spectroscopy, lifetimes, excitation-emission mapping and microscopy. The main themes of instrumentation/techniques, life sciences/biomedical and nanotechnology/materials are chosen for being some of the hottest topics world-wide. In addition to Plenary and Invited lectures Contributed talks and posters are invited.

Training in generic skills for post-graduate and post-doctoral delegates will also not be neglected with publication advice given in a lecture by IOPP and the opportunity to take part in a forum on shaping the future of fluorescence. All delegates will receive copies of the lectures and support material. Poster prizes will be awarded and time for short talks by research students is also included. There will be plenty of time for networking with a mixer on the Monday evening and a conference "FluoroFest Feast" at Ross Priory on the banks of Loch Lomond on the Tuesday evening.

2017 also marks the 40th anniversary of the founding of the University of Strathclyde spin-out IBH, one of the very earliest spin-out companies from a Scottish University and now part of the Horiba family. Specialising in TCSPC fluorescence lifetime instrumentation, the company along with the HORIBA teams in Edison New Jersey and London Ontario, are the market leaders in fluorescence. Hence FluoroFest Glasgow 2017 will be a fluorescence homecoming for HORIBA, so do please join us in the celebration and science. Haste ye back to Glasgow!
